Samsung patents ‘Infinity Display’ moniker ahead of Galaxy S8 launch Samsung patents ‘Infinity Display’ moniker ahead of Galaxy S8 launch It looks like Samsung has finally decided what it would be calling the new display in its Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. While LG calls its G6 display technology ‘Full Vision’, Samsung is expected to go with the moniker ‘Infinity Display’. The company has been granted a new patent by USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for the ‘Infinity Display’ name, as per a SamMobile website report. The news comes right at the time when Samsung is about to launch its Galaxy S8 flagship(s).
The patent doesn’t suggest any information about the display in particular, but says that the term can be used for devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, portable media players, portable computers and more. We’ll probably get to know more about the same by the end of this month.Samsung recently revealed the launch date of its Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone at its Mobile World Congress event.
The company also launched two new tablets – Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book, at the event. The ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event will take place on March 29 11:00 AM EDT (08.30 PM IST) in New York, USA. The launch event will also be live streamed on the company’s website. “On March 29, Samsung Electronics will unveil the newest Galaxy as part of its endeavour to unbox your phone.
The forthcoming addition to the Galaxy lineup represents the start of a new era, by reshaping the device that has over the years become an indispensable tool in our everyday lives,” reads Samsung’s invite for the event. So far, the Galaxy S8 hasn’t proven to be company’s best-kept secret. The smartphone has already appeared in several alleged leaked images and third-party listings.
