The ‘1st Nat’l Congress’ of Bangladesh Association of Biotechnology Graduates (BABG) held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus today (Firday)
The Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering department of the university in association with Bangladesh Association of Biotechnology Graduates (BABG) organised the programme at the Zahir Raihan auditorium on campus.
Senior Secretary of Ministry of Industry Mosharraf Hosen Bhuyan inaugurated the daylong programme about at 11am while JU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farzana Islam was in the chair.
In the inaugural speech, Senior Secretary Mosharraf Hosen Bhuyan said, ‘The government has taken several initiatives to promote science and technology. The newly biotechnology graduates will move forward the country through become success in this sector’.
Moreover, these graduates will able to cause green revolution on the country, he expects.
Dean of JU Biological Science Faculty Prof. Dr. Abdul Jabber Hawlader, the director general of National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB) Dr. Md. Salimullah, the Chairman of JU Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Dr. Shahedur Rahman, eminent biotechnology researcher Dr. Abed Chouduhry also spoke at the programme among others.
Around 400 students from 15 public and private universities took part at the programme.
The programme ended through a captivating cultural programme participated by prominent band team ‘Shironamhin’.
