Probe body formed over Biman pilot incident


The government has formed a committee to investigate into the incident of the pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines who operated flight to Doha Airport without carrying his passport.

Additional Secretary (security and departure) of the division Md Azharul Haque will lead the four-member inter-ministry body to investigate into the incident.

Cabinet Division on Friday (June 7) has issued press statement in this connection.

The probe body has been asked to submit its report to the Cabinet Division secretary within seven working days, according to the statement.

Other members of the committee are – Joint Secretary of Home Ministry (External-4) Helal Mahmud Sharif, additional director general of the Department of Passport Selina Banu and Superintendent of Special Branch of the Shahjalal International Airport Police Mohammad Shahriar Alam.

Earlier on Wednesday night Captain Fazal Mahmud flew a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from the Dhaka airport to bring back Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina but was halted at immigration of Doha International Airport for having no passport with him.

The prime minister is in Finland as part of her official trips to three countries. She had earlier visited Japan and Saudi Arabia.
