Singer Asif withdraws bail petition

Entertainment Desk, Staff Reporter, S Apon Chowdhury, Dhaka Office: Singer Asif withdraws bail petition, Singer Asif Akbar withdrew a bail petition hours after submitting it on Sunday morning in a case filed via lyricist and composer Shafiq Tuhin on costs of tune piracy and threatening him on the Facebook.

Asif’s legal professional Omar Faruk filed the petition with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amirul Haider Chowdhury within the morning.

However, later he withdrew the petition, said the lawyer adding that the petition could be filed on Monday.

On June 6, the court sent the singer to jail rejecting each his remand and bail petitions inside the case.

Earlier, CID members arrested Asif from his studio at Morning Post Tower in Panthapath region round three am on June 6.

According to the case assertion, Asif sold the digital copies of several songs without taking permission from the singers and additionally threatened Tuhin on social media Facebook.

On June 6, Tuhin filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station.
