Teachers and students have blocked the administrative building for demanding a judicial inquiry into allegations of corruption and unplanned development under the megaprojects in the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus.

The protest launched under the banner of ‘Jahangirnagar Against Corruption’ on Tuesday, September 7 at 7.30 am in front of the university’s new and old administrative building. The blockade will continue until 5pm.

Jahangirnagar Cultural Alliance President Ashikur Rahman had earlier announced the blockade last August 23. The protestors also staged a protest march in support of the blockade yesterday.

The other demands of the agitators are to replace the three halls adjoining Rabindranath Tagore Hall to resume the masterplan on the basis of discussions with all the stakeholders of the university, leaving work to start at new places and postpone the rest of the development project.
