18 hurt in Gazipur café impact

The blast at Tripty Hotel and Restaurant, housed on the ground floor of Monsur Super Market, shook the territory around 2:30am when the staff members were getting ready to close, said Ershad Hossain, authority of neighborhood Fire Service and Civil Defense.

On data, four flame motors raced to the spot and protected the harmed, he said.

Firemen are yet to decide the accurate reason for the impact.

Of the harmed, 16 were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while two were admitted to a nearby emergency clinic.

Radhuni Hotel and Restaurant, another eatery neighboring Tripty, was additionally harmed by the blast.

Rezaul Karim and Habibur Rahman, proprietors of the Tripty and Radhuni eateries individually, said they were certain that the blast was not brought about by gas chamber as two chambers of the eatery were discovered unblemished.

Zakaria Khan, station official of Gazipur Fire Service, said the gas chambers were set around 20 feet from the eatery and they were associated with the broiler at kitchen through a long pipeline.

“Fundamentally we think there was a spillage in the pipeline and the blast was brought about by the gas caught inside the café,” he said.

In the interim, a five-part test body headed by an extra justice has been framed to explore the occurrence.
