BSU urges methodical transfer of construction dust at JU

Bangladesh Students Union(BSU) of Jahangirnagar university(JU) unit urged to the university authorities for the methodical transfer of the soil and construction materials on the campus, through a press release.

A mega project of 1445 cr approved by the Executive Committee of National Economic Council(ECNEC) on the campus and a part of the project a large amount of soil is being picked up daily from the project area for the need of construction. This soil are transferring to various vacant and low-land of the campus by trucks.

In a joint statement, President of Bangladesh Students Union, Jahangirnagar University unit Nazir Amin Chowdhury and general secretary Ariful Islam Anik said, “We are concerned that the surface of the truck used to move the soil is exposed and as a result there is a lot of dust are falling on the road during the transferring.”

“At the same time, there is weeping on the road with little rain and at the time of sunny day dust is being formed again. During the day, the traffic is high and the main roads of the campus are causing heavy dust. The dust can cause various airborne diseases, including shortness of breath, asthma, allergies. We have already learned that many students have already shown various problems. We want to solve this problem.they added.”

The leaders urged the university administration to stop the transfer of soil during the day, and demanded that the truck be properly used by covering the top surface.
