BCL men assault scout members at JU

Three BCL men of Jahangirnagar University(JU) unit threatened and assaulted the on-duty Rover Scouts members on Sunday.

Senior Rover Mate (SRM) of JU unit Mohammad Khalilur Rahman submitted a written complaint to the proctor of the university demanding the proper punishment of the incident and they expressed inability to perform their duty amid insecurity.

Three BCL men tried to enter into the examination hall around 2.00 pm prior to the 4th shift of the ongoing entrance test under the ‘A’ unit. They abused verbally and assaulted the on-duty rover scout members while they bar the BCL men to enter into the exam hall. The BCL men also assaulted the on-duty journalist Mahmudul Haque Sohag, the campus correspondent of Channel I online, and tried to snatch his cell phone while he was taking the footage of the incident, according to the complaint.

They were identified as Kaiyum, Rafid and Arif. They all are the second-year student of Philosophy department and loyal to the JU BCL secretary Abu Sufian Chanchal.

JU Proctor Firoz-Ul-Hasan said, ‘We have received a complaint letter regarding this incident. We will take stern action after investigation of the incident’.

While contacted, the cell phone of the accused BCL men and the secretary Abu Sufian Chanchal was unreachable.

Meanwhile, the rover scout members back to their duty on Monday following the request of the university administration.

‘We came back to the duty today as the university authority assured us that they will ensure our security but we want justice for this incidence as it is resembles to bar at the duty of the administrative work as we are cooperating the university authority, said SRM Khalilur Rahman.
