The BNP has tossed its weight behind the half-day across the country hartal (shut down) called by Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) in dissent against the most recent climb in gas costs.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam concocted the gathering’s choice in such manner after a gathering of the gathering’s standing advisory group at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on Friday evening.
“We ethically bolster the liberal gatherings’ general strike for July 7,” Fakhrul said.
“The general population of the entire nation have been influenced by this climb in gas cost. In this manner, we think the hartal is a consistent one.”
Prior, the LDA called half-day hartal from morning to early afternoon on July 7 dissenting the climb in cost of gas.
On June 30, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission declares to expand cost of gas by 32.8 percent with impact from July 1.
A few other ideological groups, including BNP’s partners the Gono Forum of Dr Kamal Hossain, the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD of ASM Abdur Rab, and the Nagorik Oikya of Mahmudur Rahman Manna have effectively advocated the general strike.
