International Conference begins at JU

Government and Politics Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) organized a two-day long international conference on South Asian governance titled ‘1st International Conference on Governance in the 21st Century in South Asia: Challenges and Ways Forward’ on the university campus.

The conference was started on Sunday morning at the Seminar Room of Jahir Raihan Auditorium and will be continued till Monday afternoon. The conference will be featured with a total of 8 working session along with an inaugural session and a cultural session.

JU Pro-VC (education) Professor Nurul Alam inaugurated the conference around 9.30 am on Sunday while chairman of Government and Politics department Professor Shamsun Naher Khanom was in the chair.

Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md. Monzurul Huq, Dean of Social Science faculty Professor Rasheda Akhtar addressed at the program as special guest while convener of the conference Professor Al Masud Hasanuzzam gave a welcome speech.

A total of 6 out of 36 papers were presented on the first day of the conference and the rest of papers will be presented on Monday.

In the beginning day, Professor of Illinois State University of USA Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice Chancellor of Visva Bharati University of India Professor Bidyut Chakrabarty, Director of M. P. Institute of Social Science Research Professor Yatindra Singh Sisodia, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Central University Professor Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Head of Central Department of Public Administration of Tribhuvan University of Nepal Professor Tek Nath Dhakal, and Vice Chancellor of Center for Multilevel Federalism of New Delhi Professor Rekha Saxena presented their respective research papers on the governance of the South Asian perspective.

A total of 25 professors from different countries including America, India, Nepal, and Bhutan presented their research papers at the conference while around 275 students from different universities took part in the conference.
